The Surprise of Beauty

“Hard Times” Sekajipo & The Jungle/Souljourner

One of the things I love about living in our neighborhood is all the small and large ways that beauty is seen here– whether it is the beauty of someone’s story, or of the curiosity of a child, or a work of art of a talented painter or musician, or simply the beauty of the lush Caribbean foliage that line many of our streets. The following link is a music video that was filmed in our neighborhood. The musician, Sekajipo is a friend of ours who interned with us a couple summers ago and is still involved in our ministry in some capacity. ¬†Sekajipo is an up and coming artist who has a great amount of talent. You will see Laurie (Souljourner), one of our staff members on the video also. ¬†Enjoy Sekajipo & The Jungle!

  1. Girl!
    I had to watch it again and listen to the words again! OH my, Sekajipo, the words ring so true. The church? What are we doing? Preaching from the pulpit and not acting out Christ’s words to the ones who need Him most.

    Greater love has no one than this; to lay one’s life down for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command…I have called you friends. John 15:13.
    I was just reading in My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. This is what he said concerning this scripture;

    ” Jesus does not ask me to die for Him, but to lay down my life for Him. Peter said – ‘I will lay down my life for Thy sake’, and he meant it; his sense of the heroic was magnificent. Has the Lord ever asked you- ‘Wilt thou lay down thy life for My sake?’ it is far easier to die than to lay down the life day in and day out with the sense of the high calling. We are not made for brilliant moments, but we have to walk in the light of them in ordinary ways.”

    Blessed, beyond blessed. Thank you.
