I just spent two weeks in Chicago visiting my dearest friends and taking in the cold all over again. It was an amazing time being refreshed, filled, poured into by people I love dearly.
While there I met up with a dear sister who after I explained my short time here in Miami and how spiritually dry it is there very discreetly said, ‘Laina, just be cheek to cheek with Jesus!’
Funny thing is for some reason I thought about the Tango and how each intricate move of one person needs the guidance of the other. How when u see two people dancing they are cheek to cheek with each other, however, there is only one lead(the man normally). One person that moves then the other follows! Cheek to cheek!! In some way this is how we are with Christ! As He moves we follow holding him close to us so we know that at the slight touch of his hand we move in that direction!! There is one flaw in this though!! If we do not have Him close to us we will be all over the dance floor moving aimlessly not knowing the next move to make!! This is why we hold Jesus so close to our hearts and we get face to face with Him. This is why we keep His Word embedded in our minds imprinted in our souls! So in that time He wants us to move in a direction all He has to do is gently move His hand and we will follow!!
See family and friends this is how I got to Miami- well for most of you who know me really know it was more like a shove that God did but in all it felt like a gentle move of my heart! He told me to go in obedience to him and I went…not knowing what to do next but just to go!
I realized that move He made me do was not something I wanted because I was clenching onto Chicago but it was an act of obedience to His calling on my life. I love Chicago and the people there so dearly but in this dance of life He has taken his hand with my cheek to his and moved me to another part of the dance floor! Now it is my turn to do His will, do what he has called me to do in Miami and simply serve His people.
God is my lead and I will follow Him!
Miami has been hard and spiritually very dry but all I know is to do what my dear sister told me!! To stay cheek to cheek with Jesus!
