VOICE Bringing Eternal Arts to the Streets Community Youth Development

Jesus is ALIVE!!! (by Elaina Vazquez)

My heart is heavy and I need it to spill out to these pages, these pages that you will be able to read and cry with me. The tears stream from my face as I write……

Once again the Lord has shown me that He “will never leave me nor forsake me,” even in times when I do not trust HIM. He has shown me that the way HE made me is fine. I realize daily that the Lord has brought me out of my own wilderness to this land of milk and honey or better yet shall I say coconuts and mango, to serve and learn more about HIM! About trust! About love! About being intentional with HIS people!

Yes, the people of West Coconut Grove are HIS, the prostitute on the corner who feels that this is all she has to offer, the dealers who are looking for the next bag to sell, and the youth who witness it all through the eyes of such innocence. How did this become my home? Easy I believe it would have been the home of Jesus, it would be HIS dwelling. Asking the prostitute to serve him water and calling her out on the men that she have been with, then showing her that she does have more to offer the people in the streets, she has wisdom, a way to nurture those around her without using her body, but her mind.

He would be turning over the tables that the dealers cut their drugs on telling them that they are destroying the lives of HIS people on and revealing His wrath to them for not being the men, the godly men that He intended them to be in the community. Then I truly believe that he would look over at the children and say, “Come to me, I will teach you, I will love you……

But then why can’t we do this to the prostitute, to the dealer, to the children on the corners???

Again how did this become my home? Easy because this is exactly what God has called me to do because Jesus is ALIVE, He is ALIVE in me, in my heart, my hands, my feet, my mind, and He encompasses my soul. I am His Hands and Feet, I will stand up for His people, and I will do what He has called me to do! Seek Justice, love mercy and walk humbly before the Lord, to LOVE HIS people!

What are you waiting for? Go Love!
