VOICE Bringing Eternal Arts to the Streets Community Youth Development

For just one…

“Blessings family! I’m writing tonight , feeling that it is crucial to ask for prayer before I rest my body for the night. Tuesday, God gave us the opportunity in our Hip Hop class to have an amazing conversation with one of the young men in our community who is a dealer (I’ll call him ‘Big K’). He is a guy with a great smile and personality that draws people, and always sincere in conversation. But he has also been in and out of jail since we met him. Today we got real, deep, and heart-to-heart with him. I wish I could relay to you all the words that were said, because each one was so meaningful. But I will just say that it ended with him crying out to God to forgive him, change him, and make him a new man.
I kept crying, thinking that all the struggles and trials I have been through here are worth it for this. It was like all of it just fell off of me today, in light of this one life. How deep is the Father’s love.

The reason I feel the urgency to ask for prayer is that Big K expressed fear that he will just wake up tomorrow and be the same person, getting into the same things. PLEASE PRAY THAT HE EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT MANIFESTED IN HIS NEW LIFE, THAT THIS SEED WOULD TRULY TAKE ROOT AND GROW AND BEAR MUCH FRUIT, BRINGING OTHERS ON THE STREETS TO CHRIST. This is crucial…we have been praying specifically that our neighborhood would be ridden of the drug problem because the lives of the drug dealers and users being transformed by Christ. Please pray the the enemy would lose this stronghold.

All praises to the Almighty Loving God for what He did today in Big K! I cannot stop thanking Him.”

  1. Hey Laurie. This is Melissa Gilmour in Louisville, KY. I’m married to Scotty who knows Michael and Erika. Awesome news! Praise God! Praying for the power of the Holy Spirit to manifest in Big K’s life. Also claiming the promise that those who confess with their mouth and believe in their heart shall be saved (Rom. 10:9) along with the promise that God’s people are sealed with His Holy Spirit for the day of redemption (Eph. 1:13). Lord Jesus, please change Big K like you changed Paul and bring others along with him! Way to go Laurie!
