“Do Not Be Afraid”

The plane ticket has been purchased and the packing has officially begun and … I just broke a bone in my foot.  What in the world is going on!!!!!  In about two days, I hop (excuse me … hobble) onto a plane leaving Chicago and I can’t even walk.  Without this new development, these past few weeks had already been a challenge with saying good bye to the teens I work with on the west side of Chicago and transitioning out of both of my jobs.  The wonderful thing about God is that He is faithful to prepare us for these stressful and unpredictable times.  In the midst of my preparation for Miami, I had been reading through the book of Luke.  I never noticed before just how many times it says, “Do not be afraid”.  Every time I came across this phrase, I made sure to underline it.

This phrase may have stuck out to me more because it spoke to the anxiety I have been feeling about taking care of the details.  The details:  what to pack, what to leave, what to get rid of, what to … I’m just praying that God will give me peace in these final days so that I can stop focusing on the details and start focusing on this exciting transition to work and serve along side the team at Urban Resurrection!
