It has been a while since we last updated this site and the only excuse we have is the fact that the Christian Community Development Associations Annual Conference was here in Miami this year. Our team at Urban Resurrection was intricately involved on many levels in the planning, running and participation of the conference. We all were on the Host Committee which is responsible for hosting and running the volunteer based side of the conference. This is a ton of work that actually begins at least a year or two before the actual event! We helped in the areas of workshop facilitation and arts/open mic coffee house (sort of like our BEATS open mic on steroids) both were successful and brought a lot of solid positive feedback from the conference attendees. Erika was on a panel during the morning plenary session that was about Balancing Family and Ministry. Michael also was able to co-teach a workshop with Delia Caderno of Communities First and P4CT (Partners For Community Transformation). Their workshop was titled Creating Space for Community Listening and walked through the practical steps of why we should listen to the community and how to do so. It was great and we had VERY positive feedback on the workshop.
Besides all of the involvement on these levels we were able to do a lot of great learning, networking and connecting our board, friends from around the world and resources together. If you were not able to make the conference this year you definitely should aim for Cincinnati next year!
