We recently all filled out a mid-year evaluation of our discipleship house experience over the last six months and quickly realized we’ve passed that point when all the excitement of this new venture has worn off. The reality and mess of living in community has set in, leaving some disillusioned with self and each other; ready to press on to what it really means to love each other. We have failed often to support each other and truly be community. I think this is too often true of the Church as a whole, it’s just that living in community, we cannot escape that reality. So that is where we find ourselves and it’s a good place to be, putting aside all lofty ideals of what we were going to accomplish and just being committed to love. It’s been encouraging to see everyone make efforts to go beyond loving in word to loving in deed.
Within my own house, I find we have kind of reached a plateau of growth, but we need to go higher. To be honest, I’m not sure how to get there, so I’m left very aware that it has to be the Spirit leading me and leading the girls.
